jungle temples [beautiful & broken]

at ta prohm temple we observed the epic struggle of the jungle reclaiming its territory (in slow motion).

uprooting the massive temple in a strangely twisting, bulbous & yet enchanting embrace.

it seems a fitting metaphor for cambodia itself.

jungle + temple

jungle + temple

When you can't see the tops of the trees, it looks like they're Cloverfield's arms reaching down and crushing the temple.

a beauty that hurts is the name of a book about guatemala and the armed conflict here....so appropriate then and now. and in so many other parts of the world.

miss you both and thinking of you a lot!
