live the questions now.

i came across this passage today & felt a quiet sense of relief & resplendence.
(our friend rachel has phrases from it tattooed on her arms)

"i beg you...to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. and the point is, to live everything. live the questions now. perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer..."

i also came across this review of iron & wine's new album the shepherd's dog & am now looking forward to a good listen (& possibly the idea of "a listening party").

the quote is definitely a favorite. the whole concept of "live the questions" is a constant challenge to look/perceive/think differently.

we should probably have the listening party here in LA. I am very excited for some new I&W.

where did you find that lovely image of The Shepherd's Dog? (which I stumbled upon and took home with me this week. I've been thoroughly savoring it in the evenings by the fireplace)

so glad you were able to see elle and josh!
